I know touching files named after the lib(s) to fake out gmake is wrong; I
haven't spent enough time to figure out the appropriate way to do it.
(Actually, once I had a way to make it work, I forgot it hadn't been
working)

In your example, is the idea to patch all the lines of package/deps.mak (or
tools/gen-deps.sh and regenerate deps.mak)? I'll have to try that tonight.
